Jesus told his followers to live sacrificially; to take up their own personal cross (spiritually speaking) and follow him. What does that mean? What does that look like in everyday life? The purpose of this blog is to help Jesus’ followers understand and live their own “Cross Walk” daily.
In order to participate in the cross walk life, you must be a follower of Jesus. A follower of Jesus is someone who is committed to living by the principles and commands of the Bible. To many, only the words of Jesus are important. However, we read in John 1 that Jesus is the Word. Jesus is the Word, then we know that the Bible belongs to Jesus since it is His Word. That makes the whole Bible authoritative and sufficient for the lives of His followers.
If anyone wants to be a follower of Jesus and live the cross walk life, then nothing but obedience through a simple faith in Jesus and Him alone is that path. The cross walk life doesn’t give us salvation, we are saved so that we can take up our cross daily and continue to follow Jesus.
The Apostle Paul gave a clear description of what it means to be saved: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.Ephesians 2:8–10 ESV
